It has been a wonderful first week for our youngest children in Early Years and we are incredibly proud of how well they have settled into school.

In Kindergarten, our children have been busy getting to know each other and becoming familiar with their new routines. A story we shared together this week, featuring the line “Jackson likes bees, but he doesn’t like honey!”, sparked a lovely conversation about our own likes and dislikes. It was wonderful to hear the children sharing their ideas and discovering things they have in common. Mrs Thorpe can’t believe how many of the children like mushy peas!

We have also been sharing our favourite colours and ventured outside for a colour hunt, encouraging the children to explore their new environment together. Alongside all of this, they enjoyed their first P.E. lesson with Ms Lawniczak and music with Mrs Carr. It has been lovely to see their confidence developing as they become more familiar with the adults, children and routines around them.

Our Reception children have also made a fantastic start. Their first week in Reception has been all about becoming part of the Reception Class Team. They have been learning the rules of the classroom, discovering how to tidy up and care for our equipment and most importantly, learning that each and every child is a valued and important member of the class.

Through Drawing Club, the children have enjoyed exploring Supertato as their first story, while in Maths they have been developing their skills through matching and sorting games. There have been lots of opportunities for play, exploration and getting to know one another, helping the children to feel happy, secure and ready to learn.

A huge well done to all of our Kindergarten and Reception children. What a fantastic first week!
