Frequently Asked Questions
What do l do if my child is not well enough to attend school?
Please inform the school by 9.30 a.m. on or before the first day that your child is absent through illness, dentist, doctor’s appointment etc. Pre-printed absence slips are provided and should be sent to school following the return of a child who has been absent through sickness. We are required by law to keep a record of all unauthorised absence.
What do l do if l need to take my child out of school?
Parents are notified of holiday dates at the beginning of each year. Holidays are not encouraged in term time, as pupils miss important input in all areas of learning.
How do l know if the school is closed in bad weather
If snow is settling quickly at the end of the day and the weather forecast is for more, we may issue a note to say that the School will be closed the next day. Children may be taken home early. If the weather is really bad in the morning, the answer phone message on 01775 724733 will be changed to give parents up to date information. Local radio will be informed of the closure and parents should listen carefully. A notice will be posted outside the School to inform parents that the School is closed.
Can my child ride a bicycle to school?
Written permission from parents must be given for a child to cycle to and from school unaccompanied. The School strongly advises use of a helmet. All children will have the opportunity to take their cycling proficiency test in Year 6 through Bikeability. Children should not cycle within the School grounds.
Can l use the school car park?
Unfortunately we only have enough space for staff, but there is parking along the road just outside the school gates.Parents are requested not to park on the zig zag lines outside the entrance of the school and in the interests of safety never to reverse into the entrance of the school car park. Courtesy and consideration should also be shown to local residents and road users. .
