Lifesaving Skills and Water Safety

Our PE staff recently organised two valuable workshops, delivered by staff from the Castle Sports Complex, providing both parents and pupils with important life-saving knowledge and skills.
Parents were invited to take part in a Save A Life workshop, where they learned how to place casualties into the recovery position and perform CPR on infants, children and adults. The practical session allowed parents to practise chest compressions on mannequins and learn how to respond in emergency situations, including drowning incidents.
Our pupils also attended an engaging Water Safety Assembly, where they learned about the dangers associated with different types of water, particularly those found in our local area. The session highlighted the risks of cold water, rivers, lakes, coastal environments, tidal waters and rip currents, while encouraging children to make safe decisions and know what to do if they or someone else gets into difficulty.
Both sessions provided invaluable life-saving information and reinforced important safety messages in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
Thank you to the staff at the Castle Sports Complex for sharing their expertise and helping our school community develop these essential life skills.
