Outdoor Learning

This week, Year 2 enjoyed a sunny Forest School session, making the most of the fresh air while extending their classroom learning into the great outdoors.

In class, the children have been exploring the countries of the UK and their capital cities. Today, they put their Geography knowledge into action by designing a new residence for the royal family in London.

The challenge encouraged the children to think carefully about practical details such as guards, gates, walls, and security for the Crown Jewels, as well as the overall regal design of their royal home. By the end of the session, the children had produced some fantastic and imaginative designs.

At our school, Forest School isn’t just about outdoor fun. It is an opportunity to connect learning across subjects, build creativity, and develop teamwork skills, all while enjoying the benefits of being outside.
