Year 6

| | Year 6 is based on the ground floor in the main Georgian building. The classroom has individual desks and children take full responsibility for all their work and books. Children have specialist teachers for Music, ICT,French, PE and Games. We also have a number of specialist rooms including a large Art and Design room, Music room with practice facilities, ICT suite and a spacious modern Sports Hall with changing rooms. |
| | Educational outings and visiting speakers form an integral part of the curriculum in Year 6. This includes a visit abroad to France or Norfolk alternating every year. There are also local visits to enhance the curriculum such as to an Indian restaurant when studying food and culture of India, visits to churches to support work completed in RE and the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham as part of their History topic on Victorians. There are a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities available to pupils throughout the week, both during the day and after school. Year 6 particularly enjoy writing and selling a termly newspaper through Newspaper club. |
| | Children are encouraged to take on more responsibility as they move through the school and part of this is ensuring they have an active say in their school. Children are represented on the School Council by elected children from their classes; they meet regularly to discuss opportunities they would like to see developed in school as well as looking at what they can do for others such as local charities.House captains and school captains are chosen from the year group. All of Year 6 are given prefect duties particularly with regard to helping and supporting the youngest children in our Kindergarten and others in general throughout the school. |
